Well, it’s been about 2 weeks since the release, and things have finally settled down enough for me to write. To say the reception of the SJ by the community exceeded all my expectations would be no exaggeration. I was grateful and humbled by the amount of support expressed. Thanks everyone! But as always, there are questions and thoughts and issues that arise after a big release. Also that burning question, “What’s Next?” So let’s get into all of that.
Dari, I think I found a bug…
There are a number of issues that have been brought to my attention. The nastiest of these I was able to hotfix on the day of release, so nearly everyone already has the fixes (yay!) There were a number of smaller issues that came to light later, and since they are small, can wait for a future update. But for your sake (and mine), i’ll lay them out here:
- “COVER/Uncover” Button doesn’t work right on the Clicker, only works when *not* bound.
- Owner Remove on Clicker fails when the person being removed has a Very Long Name.
- FLEX HUD crashes if you attempt to add an owner in a crowded (10 or more) area when all those people are within 20 meters of you.
- FLEX HUD mystery crash (so far unclear what triggers it for the few who have reported it)
- For some, hiding/unhiding the breasts causes the wrong texture to appear on the Straitjacket body. (cause unclear)
There have also been a number of suggestions for improvement. I have them and will ponder them. 🙂
So, what about that Latex?
As I stated during development, Latex takes a long time. So I released with only black latex. I will be adding more colors, as I promised. It’s going to take time, so be patient. 🙂
Not only that, but after seeing my Black latex in-world so much, I’ve found, flaws (gasp!) So I’ll be redoing the black too. (Hey, I’m new to this, so give me some slack!).
I have a Blue Galaxian/Kinzart/Other Avatar and Want a SJ for it, gimme gimme gimme!
Custom Avatars means custom work, so it’s all going to take time. I already have many custom orders for custom fittings to do and of course the Latex to do, so Believe me when I say, I’m trying. But time, it’s all going to take time.
So What are you doing now?
Well, other than slogging through my backlog of customs (almost caught up!), I have been tasked with creating support for Custom Shape Deforming for the Mesh Deformer Project. What?! Dari is doing viewer development? Yes, it seems so. It’s something I’ve always carefully tried to stay out of. But Sometimes one does what one must. 🙂 It’s also a nice change of pace. But don’t worry, this won’t divert me for long. It’s a simple job.
… And Then What?
I’ll knock out those latex colors, the bug fixes, release it all, and be ready for the next big thing. 🙂
