Happy upcoming Valentines Day!
I guess judging by the winter storm many are experiencing, the Groundhog must have seen his shadow. But maybe I can take some minds off that for a bit. 🙂
So lets get to it.
After fighting all week, I *finally* have the laces looking acceptable. I was also able to plan out where the 3 straps will be (denoted by the 3 white placeholders)
Next steps will be (literally) tying off the laces at the top, doing the straps and adjusting things around those straps, and Looking at the possibility of making the high top optional (no promises, we will see). From there i’ll start on UV mapping and then Weighting. getting close to the next phase. 🙂
But a good percentage of my time has also been spent on the Straitjacket Update. I have a few bugs fixed already, and I’m really down to a feature request; That being working out a way so people can control the Straitjacket appearance modes from the FLEX HUD.
But here’s where things get complicated. The Aspect HUD is a per-product item. So I can write it to handle all the quirks of its matching product and it just works. The FLEX HUD, however, is universal, it has to work with *ALL* products. So I can’t hard code in any ‘quirks’, and it has to work with existing (and future) products the same way. That adds a lot of complexity.
To compound that, I have to support both the HTML mode, *and* the Dialog mode. So you can see where this gets complicated. I’ve been working on figuring out if this is possible and how it would be possible. And right now the only way I see to manage such a complex task is to offload it onto my web server. Just to give you an idea of the headache, here’s a basic flowchart of what will have to be done.
So the HUD will have to request building of a custom interface for a particular product and its current state of visibility, and then after user interaction, the choice will have to be sent for analysis and the proper action to take returned.
All of this might be possible if I added several more scripts to the Straitjacket and HUD, but that would defeat the purpose of being “Lowest Script count in Class’ 🙂 In this day and age where 30 script items are verboten, this is the only way. I knew things would come down to this eventually. Guess this is as good a time as any to start. 🙂
