I hope everyone had a good holiday. I know I did. 🙂 It’s been a little while since I posted so I wanted to get all up to speed on where I’m at and where I’m heading with 2012 right around the corner.

We have unconfirmed reports of mesh upload tests on the grid…
The plot thickens…
I’m going to talk a little bit about Rigging the mesh for use in Second Life, which utilizes Weight Painting. So what is Rigging about and why would you want to do it?
I’m happy to say the Harness texturing is done! I was sweating bullets at some points, but after finally seeing it all together and making a few tweaks, I’m extremely happy with the results:
I’m just about satisfied with the look for the straps. A sample for you:
There’s 16 strap zones I need to do before I can call it finished. I have 4 done so far. There’s always tweaks and touch-ups along the way though, so I’m not popping the champagne yet. But the end of the tunnel is definitely in sight!

Ok! 🙂 I have recovered from the corrupted file, and I’d even say I’m in better shape than before, as I took the opportunity to redo some things slightly better than what I had.
I’m resuming with the texturing, most of the metalwork is done, now on to the hard part, the straps. But I have to say, my first attempt looks promising so far:
More later.

It seems my Blender file I’ve been working on became corrupted. 😦 Luckily I keep regular backups of the file as I move through various stages, but I did lose quite a bit of the work I did recently as far as fixing some issues and poly reduction.
The good news is the texturing work I’ve done so far isn’t affected, so there’s that at least. But now I’m working to recover what I can and get things back to where I was. I really hate doing things over again. 😦 Things should be back on track in a day or two.
